The Men’s Lacrosse team earned their fifth straight victory Wednesday evening defeating Alfred State College 22-10. Genesee’s high powered offense saw nine Cougars net at least one goal, which was led by freshman attack Connor Latimer (Whitby, ON) who scored six goals and added three assists.
A key aspect for Genesee’s success was sophomore midfielder Andy Telban’s (East Aurora, NY) success in the faceoff circle as he won 10 of 14. Additional non-scoring aspects were the Cougars ability to pickup ground balls and create turnovers; sophomore JD Skura (Clarence, NY) and freshman Eli Towner (Hilton, NY) each nabbed six ground balls on the day. Skura also added a goal and an assist, while Towner created three takeaways. Additionally, sophomore Long Stick Middie Zach Smith (Rochester, NY) created four turnovers and grabbed three ground balls.
Continuing on the attack, freshmen Will Mulcahy (Batavia, NY) and Gaehnew Printup (Tuscarora, NY) again had strong performances netting three goals three assists, and two goals four assists respectfully. Fellow Batavian freshman attack Kyle Maniace netted a goal and an assist.
Genesee’s midfielder’s let their scoring presence known as freshman Spencer Halliwell-Allen (St. Catherines, ON) had three goals and an assist, sophomore Scott Cizenski (Syracuse, NY) had two goals, and freshmen Jason Harasimoniwcz (Batavia, NY) and Christian Reiller (Salamanca, NY) each had one goal.
This marks the fourth straight game where Genesee has outscored their opponents by at least 12 points. The team will travel to take on CC of Morris Saturday April 2, 2011 with a 3pm start.
