Strong Free Throws Lead Women's Basketball

The Genesee Lady Cougars defeated the Alfred State Pioneers 70 to 62 Saturday afternoon. The game started off close as Genesee took a 24-21 lead into the half. Freshmen Jasmine Armstead (Rochester, NY) stepped up huge for the Lady Cougars with 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists and shooting 100 percent from the free throw line.

Sophomore Deyara Burrell (Rochester, NY) finished with 13 points and two steals. While fellow sophomore Shakatta Brown (Rochester, NY) added 12 points, seven rebounds, and went 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

The Lady Cougars will host the Region III tournament next weekend and will play in the 1 pm game on Saturday.
