Basketball Defeated in OT

Niagara CCC narrowly defeated Genesee 92-89 in overtime Saturday afternoon. Deylon Bovell (Brooklyn, NY) and Dominique Aberdeen (Baldwin, NY) both scored 20 points to lead the Cougars (16-10, 7-4 WNYAC).

Genesee fell behind early on and trailed throughout the first half with Niagara taking a 48-32 lead in the half. Genesee fought back to take the lead off two Aberdeen free throws with 3:52 remaining in regulation (75-74). The game went back and forth down the stretch with Niagara hitting two big free throws and Genesee missing a desperation 3-point shot at the regulation buzzer.

In overtime, both teams fought back and forth when Niagara hit a big 3-point shot with 56 seconds remaining. However, sophomore Dashiem Cherry (Malverne, NY) tied the game late, before Niagara won at the line with 3.4 seconds left.

The Men return to action Tuesday February 15, 2011 as they travel to take on Monroe Community College at 8 pm.
