Sophomore De’Vanna Burrell (Rochester, NY) recorded a double-double as the Genesee Lady Cougars came from behind to defeat Jamestown CC 70-62. This marks the second time this season the Lady Cougars have beaten the defending Region III champions.

Burrell led Genesee in both points and total rebounds with 23 and ten respectfully. After entering the locker room down 36-28 at halftime, the women came out in the second with strong defensive pressure that forced Jamestown to turn the ball over a total 31 times in the game. Genesee’s ability to capitalize on the turnovers allowed them to outscore Jamestown 42-26 in the second half and come away with the victory. Sophomore Krystie Laurey (Horseheads, NY) and freshman Mary Cain (Niagara Falls, NY) had strong showings in the score columns with 16 and 11 each.

The Lady Cougars return to action this Saturday as they stay home to take on Niagara CCC at 1 pm.
