Sophomore Terrell Rankin (Buffalo, NY) led Genesee past Jamestown CC (Olean) with a final score of 87-67. Rankin had 23 points and ten rebounds in the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) contest. The victory takes Genesee to 15-9 on the year and 6-3 in WNYAC.
Freshman Deylon Bovell (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 21 points, while fellow freshman Tyshawn Ferguson (Chicago, IL) had a double-double adding 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Cougars jumped out to a 26-9 lead early, before the Jaguars of Jamestown (Olean) fought back to cut the deficit into single digits midway through the second half. Genesee pushed onto victory however, as Rankin scored seven straight points to put Genesee’s lead back to 16 points clinching the victory.
