Men's Lacrosse Announces Captains and Schedule

The Genesee Men’s Lacrosse coaching staff has announced their captains and schedule for the 2011 men’s lacrosse season. Returning team captain sophomore JD Skura (Clarence, NY) will be joined in the captaincy by fellow sophomore Zach Smith (Gates Chili, NY), freshmen Christian Reiller (Salamanca, NY), and Spencer Halliwell-Allen (Holy Cross, ON).

The Genesee Men’s Lacrosse coaching staff has announced their captains and schedule for the 2011 men’s lacrosse season. Returning team captain sophomore JD Skura (Clarence, NY) will be joined in the captaincy by fellow sophomore Zach Smith (Gates Chili, NY), freshmen Christian Reiller (Salamanca, NY), and Spencer Halliwell-Allen (Holy Cross, ON).

JD Skura, a defenseman played in all 17 games last season and was selected to the Region III 2nd Team Defense. JD finished the year 2nd on the team in groundballs with 100 and added 1 goal and 4 assists. He will be looked upon to lead the defense that is looking to improve on its 8.5 goals against average from last year.

Zach Smith, also appeared in all 17 games last season as a Long-Stick-Middie (LSM) and led the team in groundballs as a freshman with 108, while adding 2 goals and 3 assists. Zach will again be matched up with the opposing team’s best midfielder.

Christian Reiller, brings to Genesee a tremendous amount of offensive talent that earned him Section VI Class C 1st Team selection two years in a row. He is a very vocal player who has already shown considerable leadership ability. Christian made it to final cuts of the Iroquois National Team this past summer.

Spencer Halliwell-Allen, Led Holy Cross to four Ontario Championships receiving 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. In four years at Holy Cross, Spencer totaled 39 goals, 95 assists for 134 points. He was also a member of the 2009 U19 Ontario Champion Niagara Raiders team where he had 9 goals, 28 assists for 37 points.

Genesee C.C. schedule is highlighted by opening the season playing the defending NJCAA Champions, Onondaga C.C at the Carrier Dome on March 4th at 2pm before Syracuse vs. Virginia. Other important games on the schedule include Suffolk, Monroe, Herkimer, Broome, C.C of Morris, and Hudson Valley. Genesee will play all their home games on their new state of the art lighted turf field, and are members of the Western NY Athletic Conference and Region III NJCAA.
