Swimming & Diving Falls to Monroe

The Swimming & Diving teams were defeated in a dual meet Wednesday night against Monroe Community College at Monroe. Although strong performances were put in throughout the meet by the Cougars, Monroe's size proved to be too much to overcome as the women were defeated 125- 40, and the men 121-44.

The Swimming & Diving teams were defeated in a dual meet Wednesday night against Monroe Community College at Monroe. Although strong performances were put in throughout the meet by the Cougars, Monroe’s size proved to be too much to overcome as the women were defeated 125- 40, and the men 121-44.

Highlighting the evening for Genesee was freshman Brady Smith (Brisbane, Australia) as he secured two individual second place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yd backstroke events. Smith also teamed up with teammates Justin Perry (Batavia, NY), Yoshi Kuribayashi (Yokohama-City, Japan), and Max Brady (Akron, NY) for a second place finish in the 200 yd medley relay.

For the Lady Cougars sophomore Kristina Kasper (Albion, NY) qualified for her third event for the 2011 NJCAA Swimming & Diving Nationals, as she qualified in the 500 yd freestyle event.

The Swimming & Diving teams will close out regular season competition this Saturday as they host the 2011 Genesee Winter Classic at 1 pm.
