Men's Basketball Narrowly defeats Jamestown

The Genesee Men's Basketball (12-6, 3-0 WNYAC) team pulled out a close victory to Jamestown Community College with the final score being 68-67. Genesee raced out to a 22-12 lead early on, but Jamestown cut the deficit to five points at the half with the score 34-29.

The Genesee Men’s Basketball (12-6, 3-0 WNYAC) team pulled out a close victory to Jamestown Community College with the final score being 68-67. Genesee raced out to a 22-12 lead early on, but Jamestown cut the deficit to five points at the half with the score 34-29.

Early in the second half, the Cougars pushed the lead to 13, with the score of 51-38. Genesee held the lead throughout the second half until a late surge by Jamestown closed the gap and took the lead. After a Jamestown basket to take the lead by one and Genesee missed shot, the Cougars got one last stop to seal the victory. With 41 seconds remaining Genesee’s Tyshawn Ferguson (Chicago, IL) scored a layup to give the Cougars the lead.

Ferguson led the team with 22 points and ten rebounds while Deylon Bovell (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 17, while Dominique Aberdeen added 11. The team travels to take on Niagara CCC this Tuesday (January 25) at 8 pm.
