Women's B-Ball Defeats Defending Region III Champions

The Genesee Lady Cougars used a second half comeback to defeat the Region III defending champions Jamestown Jayhawks Saturday 75 to 73. The day saw three of the Lady Cougars score double digits; with De'yara Burrell (Rochester, NY) leading the way with 22 points.

The Genesee Lady Cougars used a second half comeback to defeat the Region III defending champions Jamestown Jayhawks Saturday 75 to 73. The day saw three of the Lady Cougars score double digits; with De’yara Burrell (Rochester, NY) leading the way with 22 points. Krystie Laurey (Horseheads, NY) with and Kayla Golden (Lakawanna, NY) followed closely behind with 19 and 18 points respectfully.

At the end of the first half the score was 42- 35, in favor of the Jayhawks. Genesee came out strong in the second half and with 8:22 remaining Shakatta Brown (Rochester, NY) hit a 3-point shot that gave the Lady Cougars their first lead of the game and they never looked back! The Lady Cougars' next game is against Niagara CCC on January 25th at Niagara.
