The Medina Campus Center of Genesee Community College is proud to announce the fall 2010 Student and Instructor of the Semester. Scott Benson has been named the Instructor of the Semester and Bonnie Fearby has been named Student of the Semester.
Scott teaches math and computer science classes for the college, and has built a strong reputation at the Medina Campus as a smart, caring and patient teacher. This semester Scott led several instructional design efforts to integrate the new Hawkes Learning System into math classes and the My IT Lab software into the computer classes. Students commented on Scott’s desire, “to make sure they understand,” and, “to make learning enjoyable.”
Scott is a long-time teacher of math at Medina High School, and he is a true advocate of student success both inside and outside of the classroom.
“Scott is the consummate professional teacher: he is a subject matter expert with a passion for life-long learning, and he always – always – is attentive to his students,” said Jim Simon, Associate Dean of the Medina Campus Center.
Bonnie Fearby is the Student of the Semester for fall 2010. Bonnie is a non-traditional student who is proving to be a great example and a positive influence on Medina Campus students, faculty and staff.
