Iowa Lakes defeats volleyball in first match

The women's volleyball team was defeated by Iowa Lakes Community College in the first round of the 2010 NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. Iowa defeated Genesee in three games with scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-12.

The women's volleyball team was defeated by Iowa Lakes Community College in the first round of the 2010 NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. Iowa defeated Genesee in three games with scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-12.

After a first game that saw Genesee hurt themselves through unforced errors; Genesee came back strong in the second game. Leading the way in the second game was a large rally by freshman Paige Tilert (Derby, NY) who had eight points; on the day Paige had eight digs, four aces and four kills. Building off of Paige’s performance Megan Curry (Byron, NY) and Dawn Dodd (Daleville, IN) each had four and six kills respectfully in the second game. While setters Michele Fuller (Trumansburg, NY) and Mikela Caseria (Mililani, HI) each had ten assist on the day.

Additional strong play was put in by Sarah Ward (Rochester, NY) six digs and one kill; Kristie Barger (Lima, NY) nine digs; Austin Bishop (Toronto, ON) four kills, and Maria Antsupova (Ozersk, Russia) with five digs.

Genesee will continue tournament play Friday at 12:00 PM (Central Time) against Grand Rapids Community College.
