On 10/26/10 the GCC men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss to Erie in the regional quarter finals. The Cougars took lead after just 19 seconds on a Brandon Reiner lob from a Peter Keegan through ball. The lead was extended to two five minutes later when Peter Backhouse ran in from the left wing to finish the pass from Josh Gray. Erie pulled one back from a close range tap in after Joe Agerskow had parried the initial shot. Erie struck for their second goal with 6 seconds left in the half from a goal mouth scramble from a free kick.

Genesee came out flying for the second half and literally dominated the play and bombarded the Erie goal but could not get the ball to cross the line. It seemed as though every Genesee attacker was having a turn but all to no avail. With 7 second half corners and 3 other shots cleared off the line it was becoming apparent that this was not to be GCC's night. With three minutes left and on their first shot on goal in the second half Erie secured a 3-2 victory.
