On Saturday October 30th GCC Women's Soccer (17-1-2) defeated Mohawk Valley CC (12-4-3) 3-2 in OT for the NJCAA Region IIIA title. GCC Women's Soccer won the NJCAA Region III title for the second consecutive year, the first 2 titles in GCC's Women's Soccer history.
MVCC went up early with 1-0 lead at 26:34 in the first half Just 5 minutes later Freshman forward Ali Cashmore (Akron, NY) scored
the tying goal off a pass from Catherine Mucha (Dalton, NY).
MVCC went on to score 1 more goal in the half making the score 2-1 at halftime.
Captain Forward Jessie Jaszko (Batavia, NY) scored the equalizer with a header of a corner kick from Brittany Luckey (Leroy, NY) with 14:50 left on the clock.
GCC outshot MVCC overall 18 to 10 - but the end of regulation saw the score tied 2 - 2.
During the first 10 minutes overtime period, just 4 minutes 29 second in, Catherine Mucha (Dalton, NY) scored the game winning goal off another corner Kick from Brittany Luckey (Leroy, NY)
Sophomore GoalKeeper Adele Zeh ( Nunda, NY) played in net and registered 8 saves.
Currently GCC Women's Soccer is ranked #1 in the Nation for the second week in a row.
Team leaves Tuesday, November 2nd for its 2nd consecutive NJCAA National Tournament Appearance @ Prince George’s Community College in Maryland
The next game is against Ocean CC on Thursday November 4th, 2010 at 2:30pm.
