Women's Soccer Wins Two On The Road

The GCC Women’s Soccer team won two back to back games to improve their record to 13-1-1. Monday against Bryant-Stratton, Freshman Forward Catherine Mucha (Dalton, NY) scored the first goal from a through ball from Freshman Ali Cashmore (Akron, NY) to put the Lady Cougars up 1-0 just 17 minutes into the game.

Monday against Bryant-Stratton, Freshman Forward Catherine Mucha (Dalton, NY) scored the first goal from a through ball from Freshman Ali Cashmore (Akron, NY) to put the Lady Cougars up 1-0 just 17 minutes into the game. Bryant-Stratton later tied the game up at 1-1 and the game remained tied until the team went on a scoring run with just 25 minutes left in the 2nd half. Freshman Forward Jessica Klug (Alden, NY) scored the go ahead goal from a pass from Brittany Luckey (Leroy, NY). The game’s final score was 5-1 in Genesee’s favor.

On Tuesday, Genesee defeated Jamestown-Olean 2-1 in overtime in Olean, NY. Freshman Catherine Mucha (Dalton, NY) scored a head ball off a corner kick from Dzindzi Wade (Rochester, NY) with just 9 minutes remaining in the 1st half. Emma Ylias from JCC-Olean tied the game up 1-1 15 minutes into the 2nd half, and the game remained tied at the end of regulation.

Freshman Catherine Mucha scored the game winning goal, her second of the game, during the 1st 10 minute OT with just 1:18 on the clock. It was a left footed shot in the upper 90 of the goal on a pass from Freshman Defender Emily Troup (Holley, NY).

Adele Zeh (Nunda, NY) played in net and registered 7 saves as GCC outshot JCC-Olean 11-7.

The GCC Women’s Soccer team remains undefeated in Region III and is still ranked #2 in the Nation. Our next match is Friday October 15, 2010 @ Jamestown Community College at 2pm.
