Women's Soccer Ties FLCC

The Genesee Community College Women’s Soccer team (8-1-1) (Nationally ranked #2) tied Finger Lakes Community College (6-1-1) (Nationally ranked #3) last night with a score of 1-1. The game was competitive as both teams remained scoreless in the 1st half.

The Genesee Community College Women’s Soccer team (8-1-1) (Nationally ranked #2) tied Finger Lakes Community College (6-1-1) (Nationally ranked #3) last night with a score of 1-1. The game was competitive as both teams remained scoreless in the 1st half. Sophomore Midfielder Shelby Walsh (Rochester, NY) netted the first goal for GCC just 2 minutes 51 seconds into the 2nd half off a corner kick served by Sophomore Captain Jessie Jaszko (Batavia, NY). FLCC freshman forward Sarah Murphy scored the tying goal with 15 minutes left to go in the game. The score remained tied 1-1 after 2 ten minute overtime periods. GCC had a few scoring opportunities to win the game in OT, but failed to put the ball in the back of the net. The team’s next game is Home during Homecoming Weekend- Saturday October 2 @ 12pm vs. North Country CC and then Sunday October 3 @ 1pm against Tompkins-Cortland CC.
