Genesee Community College’s director of Admissions, Tanya Lane-Martin and Susan Ryan, technical specialist in Admissions, were recently recognized at the Warsaw Central School’s Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. Tanya and Susan were each recognized for their outstanding community service and commitment to the Tiger Support Network (TSN).

Over the past year, Tanya and Susan have volunteered as co-presidents of the TSN and have coordinated several programming opportunities for students at the Warsaw Elementary School. Events included an ice cream social, movie nights, and game nights. They also coordinated the purchase of books for students during “Read across America” week and for Kindergarten screening. The Tiger Support Network hosts a teacher appreciation week and programs such as “Muffins with Mom’s” and “Doughnuts with Dad’s”.

“Even though Tanya and Susan spend most days and even many nights and weekends working side by side to help college-age students here at Genesee, they still manage to find time to volunteer in their local community to support young children and their families,” Dr. Virginia Taylor, vice president for Student Enrollment Services said. “They are great role models not only our college community where they work, but also for the students and parents in their hometowns.”
