Last night, the GCC women's team travelled to Falconer to take on the Jamestown squad. After opening up a 10 point lead off of the serving of Mikela Caseria, Paige Tilert and Kristie Barger, Jamestown surged back into the match, slowly cutting into our lead. Siding out Maria Antsupova rallied the team with her serving and we ended the first game with a 25-16 victory. In the second game, Mikela, Paige and Kristie again took GCC out to a substantial lead. Jamestown rallied, but in the end the game ended with Marie Zimmerman serving up an ace.
In the third and final game, Jamestown came out aggressively serving their way into the match, at one time taking an 8 point lead. GCC slowly but steadily cut into that lead and tied it up at 23-23, whereupon Alex Wysocki terminated the rally with a thundering spike from the hands of setter Shelly Fuller. The match ended with Paige Tilert notching her seventh kill. Genesee won 25-16, 25-18, 25-23 and is now 18-6 on the season.
