Men's Soccer Tops Mercyhurst

Having just moved up to #8 in the NJCAA national poll the GCC men's team traveled to Mercyhurst-NE in Pennsylvania. While the Cougars dominated possession, they squandered a number of first half chances to go in tied at the half on a very hot first day of Autumn.

Having just moved up to #8 in the NJCAA national poll the GCC men's team traveled to Mercyhurst-NE in Pennsylvania. While the Cougars dominated possession, they squandered a number of first half chances to go in tied at the half on a very hot first day of Autumn. The Cougars came out fighting and launched a number of attacks that failed to yield a goal.

On a rare attack from Mercyhurst the Cougars went behind when the a shot from distance seemed to take an unusual bounce and found it's way into the net. However, showing tremendous heart and work rate the cougars came right back on the attack and were eventually rewarded when Joel Brien put his shot calmly past the outstretched keeper on a pass from Dan Kocyigit. This inspired GCC to seek out a winner in normal time and Peter Keegan popped up with the winning goal with 1:45 remaining. Keegan rocketed a half valley passed the outstanding Mercyhurst keeper for his second goal with Joel Brien this time turning provider for the game winning assist.
