No. 5 Genesee Women's Soccer Defeats No. 2 Mohawk Valley Community College

The 5th ranked Genesee Community College Women’s Soccer defeated the 2nd ranked Mohawk Valley Community College with a score of 4-3 on Saturday afternoon. The game remained scoreless until MVCC Sophomore Veronica Metz scored early off a corner kick just 1:22 into play to put MVCC up 1-0.

The game remained scoreless until MVCC Sophomore Veronica Metz scored early off a corner kick just 1:22 into play to put MVCC up 1-0. Shortly after, GCC sophomore Jessie Jaszko (Batavia, NY) answered back scoring off a through ball from Dzindzi Wade (Rochester, NY) to make the score 1-1 at half.

Brittany Luckey (Leroy, NY) came out strong in the 2nd to score only two minutes into the half off a throw in from Shelby Walsh. Catherine Mucha (Nunda, NY) scored to put Genesee up 3-1 with 21 minutes remaining in the game. Mohawk Valley rallied back with two goals but came up short as Jaszko scored her second goal of the game to seal win for the Lady Cougars.

Adele Zeh played in net for 90 minutes registering 7 saves and 3 goals against as Genesee outshot Mohawk Valley 16-6.

Genesee Women’s Soccer improved their record to 7-1-0 and remains undefeated in Region III Division III. Next game is Tuesday September 21 at Alfred State at 4:00pm.
