The Medina Campus Center of Genesee Community College will offer an Introduction to Knitting course on Monday evenings from October 4 through January 4. This 12 week course is designed to take the beginner through all basic stitches and skills necessary to create a plethora of projects. Knitters will learn how to read patterns, utilize different needle and yarn types and complete a gauge. Depending on the knitter, students will have the opportunity to construct hats, scarves, mittens, socks and a baby sweater. Start the season off by learning a craft which will continually challenge, while at the same time help to eliminate every day stress.
The Introduction to Knitting course is taught by Medina native, Jennifer Bansbach. Jennifer was first forced to knit by her mother, during snowstorms as a child. Later on, married and living in Canada, she embraced knitting wholeheartedly. Jennifer has been creating endless sweaters, hats, socks, mittens and scarves for over 20 years, and continues to find knitting a peaceful and creative beginning to each day. Jennifer opened “A Knitters Corner” eight years ago in Millville and was joined by business partner Erin Karnatz five years ago when they moved the business to 111 West Center Street in Medina.
The cost for this non-credit course is $50 per student and seats are limited. For more information or to register for the Knitting class please call Charmayne Bloom, Medina Campus Center Associate at 585-798-1688.
