The Lady Cougars soccer team came out strong yesterday afternoon and dominated the entire first half of play, but the scoreboard did not reflect their efforts. The team had many shots on goal but was unable to finish until a penalty shot was awarded. Catherine Mucha took the penalty shot and placed the ball high in the left corner to give Genesee the lead 1-0. Mucha’s goal gave the team the tempo they needed as a few minutes later Jessie Jaszko scored off a pass from Dzindzi Wade to put the team ahead 2-0. The team outshot Jefferson 23 to 4. Adele Zeh registered 2 saves and got the shutout for the win.

The team is currently ranked 5th in the national poll and 2nd in Region III Division III. The team is next to face Niagara County Community College at home Thursday evening at 5:00pm.
