Genesee Baseball Wins Three out of Four

The Genesee Community College Baseball team started its fall season off by winning three out of four games this weekend. The team played the New Era Baseball Club from Buffalo at Dwyer Stadium on Saturday.

The Genesee Community College Baseball team started its fall season off by winning three out of four games this weekend. The team played the New Era Baseball Club from Buffalo at Dwyer Stadium on Saturday.  The team won both games with scores of 6-0 and 12-10. Returning player Greg Rapp got the win on the mound in game one, while teammate Jacob Featherstone led offensively with two hits and two RBI’s. In game two, Bryon Depew (Wellsville) picked up the win for the cougars while Bryan Pyper got the save.

 On Sunday, the team traveled to Rochester to play against Monroe Community College in a Western New York Athletic Conference matchup. In the third inning, Genesee scored four runs to take the lead on to a 5-2 victory. Shaun Slemko got the win going the distance on the hill striking out seven and allowing no walks. Jacob Featherstone had two hits to lead the cougars at the plate.  In game two, Genesee gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and lost 5-2.  John Polonious hit two doubles and scored twice to lead Genesee offensively.  

The team's overall record is now 3-1 for the 2010 fall season and 1-1 in the WNYAC. The team returns to Dwyer Stadium on Thursday to play Brock University of Canada at 5:30pm.
