Genesee Community College Hosts Third Annual Fall Nursing Career Job Fair

Genesee Community College continues to demonstrate a commitment to student success and community connections on Thursday, September 30, 2010 when more than 25 of the area’s top health care employers and four-year universities will attend the third annual Fall Nursing Job Fair at the Batavia Campus to explore educational and career opportunities.

Genesee Community College continues to demonstrate a commitment to student success and community connections on Thursday, September 30, 2010 when more than 25 of the area’s top health care employers and four-year universities will attend the third annual Fall Nursing Job Fair at the Batavia Campus to explore educational and career opportunities. This event is designed to introduce potential new employees to employers, and also provides health care businesses an opportunity to present their trade and services to the local community.

Health care institutions represented include Catholic Health System, Eastern Niagara Health System, Erie County Medical Center, Guthrie Healthcare System, Hamot Medical Center, Highland Hospital, NYS Veteran’s Home of Batavia, Olean General Hospital, Rochester General Health System, United Memorial Medical Center, Unity Health System and Wyoming County Community Health System. In addition, representatives from educational divisions such as Niagara University’s Department of Nursing, Roberts Wesleyan College and St John Fisher College will also be in attendance. Other agencies include: Finger Lakes DDSO, HCR Home Care, HomeCare & Hospice, Jewish Senior Life, Lifetime Care, Med Assign, Sibley Nursing Personnel Services, VA WNY Healthcare System, Visiting Nurse Service of Rochester & Monroe County, Visiting Nurses Association, Western NY DDSO and Wyoming County Health Department. Despite the current economic crisis, the healthcare field is experiencing rapid growth, which is projected to continue for the next few years. “Part of Genesee’s commitment to the local community is not just educating a new work force,” said John McGowan, Career Services Center Coordinator. “We also have a responsibility to help our new graduates, current students and community members network with potential employers and eventually find jobs.”

The event is free, open to the public, and will be held at the Batavia Campus of Genesee Community College in the Conable Technology Bldg, Rooms T119 A & B and T121 from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010.
