The Genesee Women’s Volleyball Team is looking forward to another riveting season. Bringing in athletes from all over the world, Coach Majeski feels that this season will bring many new feats as the fall progresses. The team is looking to be very young as they are made up of only two returning players and thirteen newcomers. Although the age may not portray the talent that this team possesses, they have been ranked 13th in the nation for the preseason poll. They will be looking towards some of the incoming players to step up and have immediate leadership roles.

The two returning players are Dawn Dodd (Daleville, IN) and Michelle Fuller (Trumansburg, NY) both of which have the experience playing against the highest competition. Dodd should be a major contributor this year as a middle blocker being that she was ranked in the nation last season in hitting efficiency. Fuller will add depth to the setter and defensive specialist position.

Newcomers Paige Tilert (Derby, NY), Mikaela Caseria (Mililani, HI), and Sarah Ward-Johnson (Rochester, NY) will carry most of the leadership roles on the team as they all have been named team Captain. Paige Tilert, a NFVB former player, will be looking to contribute on the court in the outside hitter and libero position while Mikaela Caseria will be looking to be a solid setter. Sarah Ward-Johnson, one of the most mature players, will be the most intense and versatile leader on the court. Other incoming athletes that will be contributors to the team success this fall will be Outstide Hitters Austin Bishop (Toronto, CA), Deliane Lessard (Rochester, NY) and Alex Wysocki (Hamburg, NY) and setter Maria Antsapova (Russia).

Coach Majeski is very excited to start the 2010 Fall Volleyball season and sees much potential in the players currently on his roster. “We are using a new system that will maximize some of our smaller and more talented players” says Coach Majeski. The team is looking to win a regional title and be a contender at the national championship!
