The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of Genesee Community College’s BEST Center is pleased to announce its new home as it relocates to the Dr. Bruce A. Holm Upstate MedTech Centre across the street from the Batavia Campus. The new SBDC office location will be within the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) office at 99 MedTech Drive, Suite 106, Batavia, NY.
The relocation provides increased opportunity for local businesses and entrepreneurs. Extensive business expertise and experience will now be more readily shared among the GCEDC staff and SBDC advisors Sam Campanella and Dick Petitte. Each organization and each staff member brings a unique and critically important knowledge base and background that will serve to further enhance regional economic development. From awareness of new state and federal grants and other funding resources, to discovering emerging technologies and entrepreneurs, or simply brainstorming the best approach for a new business venture—The BEST Center, the SBDC and the GCEDC, continuing to work together but in closer proximity, promises to be a dynamic business alliance.
Funded, in most part by the Small Business Administration, the SBDC delivers counseling, training, and industry-specific research to small business entrepreneurs as well as new and current small business owners in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming counties.
“The new location of the Small Business Development Center concentrates a critical mass of business brain power and years of experience under one roof. I predict this is going to be another win-win-win for the GLOW region as our three groups cross-pollinate our goals and interests,” said Jerry Kozlowski, associate vice president for Workforce Development at The BEST Center, which continues to oversee the SBDC. “In addition, it is important to note office space at The BEST Center and at the College in general has become increasingly scarce. The SBDC now has more breathing room to better address the needs and interests of our entire small business community.”
