Twenty years ago, Genesee Community College developed the Physical Therapist Assistant program with 18 students. Today, the program has produced 355 graduates and earned a solid reputation for introducing dedicated, top-notch therapists into the clinical community. Alumni of the PTA program at Genesee will gather for an anniversary celebration on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Batavia Campus.
The evening will start with a ‘meet and greet’ in the PTA lab (room A208). From 4:30pm-6:00pm the meet and greet will continue with a campus tour and mini memorabilia scavenger hunt. At 6:00, PTA alumni and their families will enjoy a dinner in the Forum. Highlights of the 20th Anniversary celebration include catching up with classmates, talking with former instructors, seeing how the College has changed , sharing memories of the ‘good old days’ studying in the PTA lab and rekindling friendships.
“As the designated ‘mother hen’ of the PTA program, I truly hope that alumni will join us as we remember our PTA family,” Peggy Kerr, director of Genesee’s PTA program, said. “I look forward to hearing from our graduates, and seeing how far they have come since leaving Genesee. It will also be wonderful to share all the new developments at GCC and enjoy a great evening back on campus.” Ms. Kerr has been involved with Genesee’s PTA program since its inception in 1990.
Alumni will be sent invitations to this event and are asked to RSVP by August 30, 2010. The dinner is $30 per plate and checks should be made to Genesee Community College. To reconnect with other Genesee PTA alumni, find them on Facebook at www.facebook.com and search Genesee CC Physical Therapist Assistants.
