Softball Splits With Corning

The Lady Cougars played a grueling double header against Corning Community College yesterday afternoon as both games ended in extra innings. Game one ended after 9 innings with a score of 8-5 in favor of Corning, while game two finished up 8-7 for Genesee in the 13th inning. An excellent job was done by both pitchers for Genesee; Carly Shaw and Stephanie Smolsky. Shaw pitched 15 total innings and gave up only 13 hits while Smolsky gave up 9 hits and had 7 stikeouts. Leading the cougars at the plate were Lisa Vogt who was 6 for 10 with 4 RBI's, Gabby Spink who was 5 for 10, and Sam Pierce who was 5 for 10 with the game winning hit.

The team is next to play against Jefferson Community College.
