Yesterday the men’s baseball team split with Alfred State College. In game one, Alfred State scored their first three runs on errors and went on to beat the Cougars 6-5. Zach Leitten took the lost giving up only three earned runs while walking four batters. Genesee out hit Alfred 10-8 but left runners on first and second in the bottom of the seventh inning. John Polinious led the cougasr as he went 3-4 with a double and a homerun, while Mick Daniels and Ross Graham both went 2-3.
In game two, Alfred State scored three runs in the first inning on three hits, but they would only manage three more hits the rest of the game. The Cougar hitters again out hit Alfred State and went on to win the second game, 7-4. The team was led by Mick Daniels going 3-3 and scoring twice. Mitch Roy and Ross Graham went 2-3, while Eitan Maoz hit a three run homerun.
The team is now 1-1 in region three division two play and 11-11 overall. The team will travel to Alfred State on Saturday to play a double header beginning at 1pm.
