Genesee's golf team continued to show improvement in two tournaments over the weekend. On Saturday April 17th, Genesee played in the Jamestown CC Invitational at Chautauqua Golf Club, Lake Course, Chautauqua NY.
The cougars finished 4th out of 8 teams in the tournament with a team score of 346. Leading the cougars was sophomore Jeff Marcy who shot an 81 to finish 5th out of 45 players on a cold day that saw the teams playing through rain, hail, and snow. Other players who competed were Mark DeCook, Matt Ferdinand, Alex Muench, Mike Estela, and Chris McDonald. Roberta Terbuska of the lady cougars shot a 97.
On Sunday April 18th, the cougars played in the Erie Community College Invitational at Harvest Hills Golf Course in Orchard Park NY. The men's team finished tied for 3rd place in a field of ten schools, including the following Community Colleges: Jamestown, Broome, Tompkins Cortland, Corning, Monroe, Erie, as well as Medaille and Daemen Colleges.
Jeff Marcy and Matt Ferdinand each shot 79 to tie for 5th in a field of 62 players. Mark DeCook, Alex Muench, Mike Estela, and Chris McDonald also participated for GCC. Roberta Terbuska of GCC was the only woman participant, and shot a 95.
The team is next to play at the Niagara CC Invitational on April 24th at Willowbrook Golf Course.
