Genesee Community College Student Awarded Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarship

Lori Mould, a Genesee Community College student, was among 400 recipients nationwide who have been recognized as a 2010 Coca-Cola National Finalist. Lori, along with the other awardees, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. This program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
“We’re delighted Lori has won this award,” Cliff Scutella, director of Student Activities said. “She is the fourth student to receive this award and exemplifies the tradition of outstanding students who develop their skills and achieve high standards at Genesee Community College.”
Lori is a very active member of the College community. Her volunteer activities at Genesee include Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Student Government, The New Courier student newspaper, and WGCC radio station. Lori is a non-traditional student, and went back to college after being out of an educational setting for 27 years. She has been on the President’s List since she enrolled in the spring semester of 2008, has been named Student of the Month, Who’s Who Among College Students and was awarded the Peg Tiede Memorial Scholarship. She was also elected as the student representative for Genesee Community College Board of Trustees.
Lori has recently traveled on a SUNY sponsored trip to China where she earned college credit while traveling and studying Chinese culture. Additionally, Lori has just returned from New Orleans having spent her spring break down there with a group of Genesee students volunteering and assisting with clean up and rebuilding in the after math of Hurricane Katrina. She is currently running for Phi Theta Kappa International President and will travel to Orlando, FL for the International Convention during April 8-11, 2010.
After graduating from Genesee, Lori plans on attending a four year school to earn a Bachelor’s degree. She hopes to someday work as a Photojournalist, as she enjoys traveling, writing about and photographing people engaged in positive work. A resident of Cheektowaga, NY, Lori has one son, Joshua, a daughter-in-law Jaimie, and a granddaughter, Autum Jaide.
