The Genesee baseball team won three of three games this past weekend. On Saturday, the team only needed five innings in both games to defeat Westmoreland CCC. In game one, the team scored three runs in the first inning on to a 12-2 victory. John Polinious went 3-4 with three runs scored and three runs batted in. John Broll went 2-4 with a double and Mike Hackett went 2-3. Greg Rapp got the win on the mound going all five innings giving up two runs on three hits.
In game two, the team again scored three runs in the first inning and five in the fifth inning for the teams 11-1 win. John Polinious and Ed Kohout were both 2-3 at the plate while Bryan Pyper went 2-4. Ron Kleinbach got his third win of the year pitching all five innings giving up three hits.
On Sunday, the team traveled to Community College of Allegany County-South. The team was only able to get one game in due to rain. The Cougars won game one 4-0. John Polinious went 2-3 for the team while Kevin Hughes went 2-3. Mitch Roy added a two RBI double to lead the team in hitting. Zach Leitten pitched his second straight shootout giving up four hits.
The team is now 8-9 on the year and plays again this Friday against Erie CC in a nine inning game at Dwyer Stadium.
