Men's Soccer Season Comes To An End

The Genesee Men’s soccer program endured a trying season after losing several players from the 2008 season to scholarship. The team managed a record of seven wins, nine losses and one tie. Improvements were made throughout the year as the team grew together and gained experience, leading to the Cougars earning a playoff spot as they traveled to play Hudson Valley for the first round, but the game ended in a 3-0 loss ending Genesee’s season.

Leading scorer Daniel Kociygit was named to first team All-Conference along with Gerald Myles. Goalie Matt Sheffield and defensemen Josh Canfield were named to the All-Conference second team.

The men’s program looks forward to improving next season as they will return key players, including Mike Estela and offensive threat Dave Farabella, as well as the All-Conference players, Daniel Kociygit and Gerald Myles. The team will also be looking to leadership from new and exciting recruits from all over the world.
