The Lady Cougars’ soccer team got to experience one of the greatest seasons in school history after making an incredible run to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament. Led by 2nd team All-American Chelsea Williams, Genesee made it through to the National semifinals where they lost a heartbreaker to Montgomery College-Rockville of Maryland in a penalty shootout. At the end of their fantastic season the Lady Cougars finished 4th in the nation and won the NJCAA Tournament Sportsmanship Award.
Coach Kelly Gillow was named Region Three Coach of the Year after defeating number one seeded Herkimer in the regional championship. Other individual accomplishments on the team include Chelsea William’s, 2nd team NJCAA All American, was named 1st team All-Region with 19 goals and 12 assists, ranking her sixth overall for points scoring in the nation. Jesse Jaszko also had amazing accomplishments this season being named NSCAA All American, 2nd team All-Region and ended the season ranked 13th in the nation in points scoring, with 40 points on 16 goals and 8 assists. Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade was also named to the 2nd team All-Region as she finished the season with 4 goals and 8 assists.
The Genesee Women’s soccer team caught the attention of the entire nation, with some major players returning and key additions for the fall, they hope to make another run at the national championship.
