Save the Date: Genesee Community College's First Annual Homecoming

Alumni Welcomed Back for Weekend of Friends and Fun

Alumni, friends and community residents should save the date for Genesee Community College’s first annual Homecoming, Friday and Saturday October 1-2, 2010. All graduating classes as well as family members, friends and the community are welcomed back to the College’s Batavia Campus for a weekend filled with alumni activities, sporting events and at the culmination of the weekend, an all-class reunion/mixer. Any alumni or community members interested in volunteering should contact the Alumni Office as soon as possible at 343-0055 x6265.

Friday, October 1 will feature men’s and women’s Alumni soccer games played under the lights of the new all-weather turf field. Saturday, October 2 will begin with various alumni-centered activities and celebrations across the campus including campus tours and a ‘Pres and Profs’ lunch with Genesee President, Dr. Stuart Steiner and past and present professors. The Men’s and Women’s Cougar Soccer teams will play at 12:00pm and 2:00pm versus North Country Community College.

Following the soccer games, the first group of alumni will be inducted into the new Athletic Hall of Fame with an induction ceremony and celebration. Homecoming weekend will conclude with an All-Class Reunion/Mixer open to all alumni and community members. All graduating years are invited, with special recognition for the classes of 1969 and 1970. There will be music, food and a cash bar.

Lead by a committee of nine Genesee alumni, and chaired by Patti Michalak ’70 and Pam Whitcombe ’69, Genesee’s Homecoming weekend is themed ‘Oh the Places We Go.’

“We are so excited to welcome back and honor the great alumni who have graduated from Genesee Community College,” Patti Michalak said. “We hope that all graduated years can be represented, both past and new grads and current students are invited as well as their families and friends. Homecoming promises to be a lot of fun!”

Further details on locations, times and additional alumni activities will be forthcoming. For more information or to volunteer for the Homecoming weekend, please contact Alumni Affairs Coordinator Jackie Christenson at 585-343-0055 x6265 or
