Swimming going strong after day two

Day two of the Region III/Northeast District Championships began with a fourth place finish in the women's 200 yard medley relay; the relay consisted of freshman Leslie Flannery, sophomore Katelin Adamczak, freshman Makayla Bidell, and sophomore Stephanie Mott finished with a time of 2:11.

Day two of the Region III/Northeast District Championships began with a fourth place finish in the women’s 200 yard medley relay; the relay consisted of freshman Leslie Flannery, sophomore Katelin Adamczak, freshman Makayla Bidell, and sophomore Stephanie Mott finished with a time of 2:11.13. The men’s relay composed of freshmen Adam Seweryniak, and Justin Perry, and sophomores Dustin Shepard, and Doug Nagowski took fifth with a time of 1:56.17.

In the individual events, Flannery took second in the 400 yd. individual medley at 5:23.10, while Bidell took sixth in the 100 yd. fly with a time of 1:16.25. In the 200 yd. free, Mott finished fourth at 2:17.48, while freshman Eric Kowalik and Shepard took fourth and seventh with times of 2:03.00 and 2:08.62 respectfully for the men. GCC had a pair of swimmers in both of the 100 yd. breaststroke events as Adamczak and sophomore Claire Vanderberg took second and third for the ladies at 1:17.12 and 1:17.73; while Perry and Nagowski finished eighth and ninth on the men’s side at 1:15.08 and 1:16.16. In the men’s 100 yd. backstroke Seweryniak finished fourth at 1:02.11 to end individual competition for the night.

Competition concluded for the evening with the 800 yd. free relays. The women’s relay consisting of Flannery, Mott, Adamczak, and Vanderberg took second with a time of 9:13.79. The men’s relay of Kowalik, Nagowski, Shepard, and Seweryniak finished third, touching the wall with a time of 8:18.90.
