Women's Basketball Tops Erie CC

Genesee 85 vs. Erie 62

Last night the lady cougars traveled to Buffalo to compete against Erie Community College. The game was within a few points at half time, when the team decided to turn it up a notch. The defense came out strong in the second half and was up by 15 with about 11 minutes left in the game. The defensive attack was led by Marcedes Caver and Shakatta Brown; Caver had 5 steals and Brown had 4 steals.

The offense was led by sophomore Jamia Martin who scored 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 3 assists, and Freshman KaMela Bender contributed 16 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists. Freshman Shakatta Brown also chipped in 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The game ended with a score of 85-62.

The Cougars will be back in action on Thursday Jan. 28th here at home against Alfred State at 6pm.
