Men's and Women's Swimming Defeats Alfred State

The Swimming & Diving teams defeated Alfred State Wednesday night with scores of 62-46 on the women’s side and 73-51 for the men.Leading the way on the women’s side was freshman Leslie Flannery (Newark, NY) with three first place in the 1,000 freestyle (12:01.84), 100 freestyle (1:02.61), and 500 freestyle (6:02.04). Her 1,000 time lowers her school record the event by almost three seconds. Fellow freshman Makayla Bidell (Tonawanda, NY) had two first place finishes in the 200 IM (2:48.35) and 100 butterfly (1:15.65); in addition she had second place finish in the 100 backstroke. Sophomore Katelin Adamczak had two first place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:24.11), and 50 freestyle (30.65).
On the men’s side freshman Adam Seweryniack (Batavia, NY) had two first place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:00.38) and the 100 freestyle (55.01); taking second and third in the 100 freestyle were freshmen Josh Kelkenberg (Oakfield, NY) and Justin Perry (Batavia, NY ). Kelkenberg, and Perry also took second and third in the 50 freestyle behind sophomore Dustin Shepard (Castile, NY) who won the event with a time of 25.68. Sophomore Doug Nagowski (Alden, NY) took first place in the 200 IM, swimming a season best 2:24.95. Also swimming a season best was freshman Eric Kowalik in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:32.98. Seweryniack, Kowalik, Nagowski, and Shepard teamed up to take first place in the 200 freestyle relay.
The men and women return to action this Saturday at the Erie Community College January Invitational.
