Men's & Women's Swimming Finish on top at tri-meet

The Genesee Swimming & Diving teams returned to action this past Tuesday, with a tri-meet at Jamestown CC with Erie CC. Genesee won the meet defeating Jamestown 89-27 and Erie 89-22 on the women’s side. The men side saw Genesee defeat Erie 75-60 and Jamestown 75-31.
Combined your Cougar men and women took first place honors in 14 out of the 22 events competed. Freshmen taking first place honors for the women were: Leslie Flannery (Newark, NY) in the 1,000 yard freestyle, and 500 free; and Makayla Bidell (Tonowanda, NY) in the 200 individual medley (IM). Not to be out done, first place finishes by the sophomores included: Stephanie Mott (Oakfield, NY) in the 200 free, Katelin Adamczak (Dunkirk, NY) in the 100 butterfly, and Claire Vanderberg (Batavia, NY) in the 100 breaststroke, had first place finishes. Flannery, Adamczak, Bidell, and Vanderberg combined to take first place in the 200 medley relay also.
On the men’s side first place finishes were put in by freshmen Eric Kowalik (Akron, NY) 1,000 free and 500 free; Adam Seweryniak (Batavia, NY) 50 free and 100 backstroke, and sophomore Doug Nagowski in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Seweryniak, Nagowski, Kowalik and sophomore Dustin Shepard (Castile, NY) teamed up to take first place in the 200 medley relay.
The Swimming & Diving teams return to action this Saturday at the Herkimer CCC Winter Invitational, warm-ups start at 11:00pm with a meet start time of 1:00pm
