Lady Cougars win both Cougar Holiday Classic games!

The Lady Cougars basketball team won both their games over the weekend during the Cougar Holiday Classic to improve to 7-3 overall. Saturday Genesee defeated the Community College of Rhode Island 65-45 led by Jamia Martin (Syracuse, NY) who had 21 points with 7 rebounds. Jalessa Rogers (Syracuse, NY) added 13 points with 6 rebounds, KaMela Bender (Warren, OH) had 12 points and 9 rebounds, and Krystie Laurey (Horeseheads, NY) had 9 points respectively.

Genesee faced off against ASA Sunday putting together a strong team performance defeating the Lady Avengers 92-70.  KaMela Bender led Genesee with 22 points and 7 rebounds; followed by Marcedes Caver (Bedford Heights, OH) who had 21 points with 3 steals;  Krystie Laurey with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals; and Jamia Martin with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.

KaMela Bender and Krystie Laurey were each named to the Cougar Holiday Classic All-Star team for their outstanding play for the Lady Cougars.

Genesee's next game is home Saturday, December 19th 2009 vs. Lakeland Community College at 1pm to be followed by the men's game at 3pm.

In other lady's basketball action during the Cougar Holiday Classic Monroe CC also went 2-0 on the weekend, defeating ASA on Saturday by the score of 75-60 and Community College of Rhode Island 80-51 Sunday.  MCC improves to 7-4.
