The Lady Cougars defeated Houghton JV in dominating fashion last night by the score of 92-36. GCC had five players scoring in double digits led by Ka’Mela Bender (Warren, OH) who had 22 points and 4 steals. Also leading the way for Genesee was Krystie Laurey (Horseheads, NY) who added 16 points with 4 steals and 6 rebounds; Marcedes Caver (Bedford Heights, OH) who had 16 points, 7 steals, and 5 assists; Jamia Martin (Syracuse, NY) who had 15 points with 5 rebounds; and Shakatta Brown (Rochester, NY) who had 13 points with 8 assists and 4 steals.
With the victory Genesee improves to 5-3 and will play their first home game of the season in the opening round of the Cougar Holiday Classic vs. Community College of Rhode Island at 2pm Saturday in the new gymnasium as GCC.
