Genesee Community College will present the first annual Student One Acts and Cabaret in the Stuart Steiner Theatre, November 12-14, 2009. The two-part performances will feature a night-club style, intimate setting with seating on the stage versus the traditional auditorium seats. Performance dates are scheduled for Thursday, November 12, at 7:30PM, Friday, November 13, at 7:30PM and Saturday, November 14, at 7:30PM.
The ‘One Acts’ portion of the evening are student-directed, and are plays that consist of only one act, rather than multiple acts. Students involved in the Student One Acts and Cabaret are: Sarah Dunlop, Kiara Davis, Johnny Dow, Alex Falu, Tyler Eldred, Anjelica Sistrunk, Nikole Marone, Samara Brown, Nikkia Travis, Kiley Conklin, Sara Leonard, Jessica Francis, Brianna Kruppenbacher, Joanne Taheri, Richard Torres, Robert Reiss, Jamie Hicks, and Ian Gayford.
Each performance will consist of four student-directed One Acts. They include: “DMV Tyrant” directed by Johnny Dow, (DMV Lady – Anjelica Sistruck, Customer – Jaime Hicks), “Sure Thing” directed by Robert Reiss (Bill – Alex Falu, Betty – Brianna Kruppenbacker), “Fates’ Steady Hands” directed by Alex Falu (Sam – Richard Torres, Richard – Tyler Eldred) and “Death Knocks” directed by Jessica Frances (Nat – Robert Reiss, Death – Johnny Dow).
Following the One Acts is the ‘Cabaret’ portion of the evening, which is based on the works of Kander and Ebb. The Cabaret will include songs from “CHICAGO”, “Cabaret”, “New York, New York” and “The World Goes Round.” This portion of the show is directed by Maryanne Arena, director of Fine and Performing Arts at Genesee.

General admission ticket prices for Student One Acts and Cabaret are $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, senior citizens (55+) and Genesee faculty, and $3.00 for Genesee students with a valid ID.
