Volleyball Heads Into Exciting Weekend!

The GCC Volleyball team will host a quad-meet Saturday the 17th at Batavia High School featuring Niagara CC, Jamestown CC, and Royal Military College of Canada. The Lady Cougars currently have a four match win streak in non-tournament play with victories over Jamestown CC in 5 games, Monroe CC in 4 games, Finger Lakes in 3 games, and Mercyhurst NE in 3 games.

The GCC Volleyball team will host a quad-meet Saturday the 17th at Batavia High School featuring Niagara CC, Jamestown CC, and Royal Military College of Canada. The Lady Cougars currently have a four match win streak in non-tournament play with victories over Jamestown CC in 5 games, Monroe CC in 4 games, Finger Lakes in 3 games, and Mercyhurst NE in 3 games. The team also put together a successful showing at the Hagerstown Tournament going 3-1 last weekend with victories over the CC of Baltimore County in 3 games, Pitt CC in 5 games, and Howard CC in 4 games; Setter/Outside Hitter Liza Cheseborough (Fountain Valley, CA) and Setter Katelyn Thurber (Lyndonville, NY) each made the All-Tournament team. Coming into today’s matches the Lady Cougars have a perfect Regional III D-II record of 2-0 and WNY Conference record of 5-0.

Niagara CCC comes into the quad meet with an overall record of 14-8, and a 3 match win streak in non-tournament play, as well as an impressive showing in the TC3 Tournament going 4-1 with victories over Mohawk Valley CC, Corning CC, Broome CC, and Erie CC. NCCC defeated Monroe in 4 games their last match.

Jamestown CC comes into the quad meet with an overall record of 15-5 and is fresh off claiming the Alfred State College Tournament championship. Outside Hitter Lacey Blocker was named the Tournament MVP while teammates, Setter LIbbie Rauh and Middle Hitter Hannah Reynonlds, were named to the All-Tournament Team. JCC also claimed the Onadaga Tournament Championship earlier this year.

Royal Military College of Canada enters the quad meet in their exhibition season, currently sitting 2-0 with sweeps in their opening matches. They open their league season October 31st vs. Ottawa.

Genesee will open the day vs. Niagara CCC at 10:30am, followed by Royal Military College of Canada at 1pm, and Jamestown CC at 3pm. Games will be held at Batavia High School in the main and auxiliary gyms.
