Instructors and staff from the Arcade Campus Center of Genesee Community College got an A+ for effort with their participation in last Saturday’s Teacher Feature event at the Holland International Speedway - NASCAR Motorsports Complex in Holland, NY. Racers included: Becky Reynolds of Olean, NY who teaches English (left); Michael Weston of Depew, NY who teaches History (center); and David Sink, of Delevan, NY (right) an Arcade Campus Center staff member who also teaches Driver Education.

In three separate “heats”, or races, of the Teacher Feature motor cross event, the three Arcade Campus Center instructors competed against other teachers from area schools such as Pembroke and East Aurora. They faced off in assigned street cars that had been converted into the racing modality by removing windows and mirrors for increased racing safety. In the end, Michael Weston, who dabbles in stock car racing, came out on top and took the 2009 Teacher Feature Trophy.

“It was a fun night with students, faculty, staff and friends all sharing in the festivities of a motor cross event,” Dr. Deborah DiNoto, associate dean of the Arcade Campus Center said. “As a new opportunity for most of us, we learned a lot together—which is what education is all about. And who knows, maybe next year, Teacher Feature 102 will be on the calendar.”
