An evening of free family fun is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Genesee Community College as the second annual Cruise at the College hosts "cruising" cars, motorcycles, and trucks from across the region. The Cruise, which will feature Skull Crusher Trikes this year in addition to food and entertainment, begins at 4:00 pm and runs to 8:00 pm.
Skull Crusher Trikes, from Leicester NY, will have several custom-built trikes on display. The Batavia Area Jaycees are sponsoring a chicken barbeque during the Cruise. Pre-sale tickets are available for $8 by calling the Jaycees at 585-343-5775. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be available at the event by the Batavia Lions Club and Abbott's Frozen Custard will be serving ice cream. The evening's musical entertainment will be provided by Dennis Pfalzer, sponsored by Ken Barrett Chevrolet.
Other family-friendly attractions include a chance to see ultra lights and unique remote-controlled flying machines flown by the Batavia RC Flying Club. Dash plaques and goody bags will be given to the first 200 cruisers, courtesy of O-AT-KA Milk Products and Advantage Auto Parts. Additional door prizes will be given away to the cruisers throughout the event. For more information about bringing a cruise vehicle, call 585-301-1711.
"Genesee is excited to host this event and invites the community to join us for a fun evening," said Rick Ensman, Genesee Community College's Director of External Affairs.
There is no admission or entry fee for Cruise at the College, however organizers are encouraging donations for Genesee's Transportation Scholarships. This fund helps student commuters who have unmet transportation problems that sometimes prohibit them from attending classes or working toward earning a degree.
