Eunice Bellinger Joins Genesee as Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

When Buffalo native Eunice M. Bellinger was pursuing her college degree at Niagara University in the 1970s, she rounded out her academic schedule by attending classes at Genesee Community College in Batavia.

On August 4, after two and a half decades as a highly successful college professor and academic administrator in New York, Massachusetts, and abroad, Dr. Bellinger returns to Genesee as the College's new Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Bellinger replaces Dr. Claudia Moore, who is retiring this summer after nine years of service at Genesee.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Bellinger has served at Erie Community College, The University at Buffalo, SUNY College of Technology at Alfred, Exeter College (Great Britain), Public Authority for Education (Kuwait), University of Maryland/European Division, American University in Duabi (United Arab Emirates), and Abu Dhabi University (United Arab Emirates). During these assignments, she taught psychology, sociology, anthropology, and education. In 2005, after nearly 15 years abroad, Dr. Bellinger was named Dean of the Long Island Center of SUNY Empire State College in Old Westbury, NY and in 2007 she was named Special Assistant to the Provost of Empire State. She is currently serving as Interim Provost at Massachusetts Bay Community College in Wellesley, MA.

Dr. Bellinger holds a B.S. degree from Niagara University; an Ed.M. degree from the University at Buffalo; and a Ph.D. degree from the University at Buffalo.

Her scholarly papers and presentations include a "Descriptive Study of the Micro-Computer in Two Classrooms of Differing Social Class" (New England Educational Research Association, 1989); "Art Education: A Cross-Cultural Perspective" (NAEA, New York, 1999); and "Education in the Arabian Gulf" (All Areas of Studies Conference, Empire State College, 2006). She is a member of the American Educational Research Association.

The Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs is Genesee Community College's chief academic officer. In her new position, Dr. Bellinger is responsible for the oversight of all academic programs, non-credit and business instruction, new program development, and guidance of faculty.

Michael S. Stoll, Dean of Math, Science, and Career Education, served as chairperson of the search committee that recommended Dr. Bellinger for the position. "Eunice Bellinger brings well-rounded skills to Genesee, as well as a long record of commitment to students," Dean Stoll said. "She is highly knowledgeable about emerging careers and the needs of employers, and she is passionate about student success. She will be a great addition to Genesee Community College."

Dr. Stuart Steiner, President of the College, welcomed Dr. Bellinger. "She will bring an outstanding record of achievement and creativity to Genesee," Dr. Steiner said. "I look forward to working with her as we continue to build extraordinary academic programs and deepen our record of success and innovation."
