Genesee's Albion Campus Announces Instructor and Student of the Spring 2008 Semester

Genesee Community College’s Albion campus center is pleased to announce that Shawna Allen has been selected as Student of the Semester and Rick Bovenzi has been named Instructor of the Semester for the Spring 2008 term.

Shawna Allen is a full-time student at Genesee majoring in Business Administration. She decided to attend college with the hope of finding employment in an enjoyable career field. Shawna likes meeting new people at Genesee and believes that attending college is improving her life.

Shawna is very organized and works hard as a student. Her instructors commended her for being helpful to others, her work ethic, and taking imitative. Shawna has perfect attendance and is always attentive and polite in class.

Rick Bovenzi teaches Human Biology for Genesee Community College at Albion High School and Fundamentals of Cell Biology at Genesee’s Medina campus center. He taught Biology, Earth Science, and General Chemistry at Albion Central School before retiring in 2004. Rick earned a BS in Biology and Earth Science from SUNY Buffalo and a MS in Science Education from SUNY Brockport.

One student who nominated Rick for Instructor of the Semester wrote that “class is always fun and exciting. Mr. B. is helpful and willing to explain things in a way that can be understood by the particular individual seeking an answer.” Rick lives in Waterport, NY with his wife. They have one son and two daughters.
