Baseball Advances to Final Four

The Cougar baseball team will advance to its third Final Four in a row with a big 8-1 win over Schenectady County Community College yesterday. The team enters the Region III, Division III tournament as the No. 4 seed and plays No. 1 seed, Niagara County Community College on Friday May 9, 2008. The start time is 3:30pm at Dwyer Stadium. In an earlier meeting with Niagara, the Cougars split the two game series, winning the first game 1-0 and losing the second game 1-2.

In the nine inning game against Schenectady CCC, Andre Kinder (Albion, NY) led the team in both pitching and hitting. Kinder pitched six strong innings for the win, while giving up one run and striking out six batters. The winning pitcher also went 3-5 with a double, triple, and three RBI’s. Chad Blackmon (Rochester, NY) went 2-4 with a triple. Five other Cougar players had hits for the team.

The team is now 24-11 overall and will compete this weekend for the right to represent Region III in the National Junior College World Series held in Tyler, Texas.
