Genesee Community College Offers Fitting Tribute to Mothers

Abraham Lincoln once acknowledged the significant role his mother played in his life when he said, “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” This Mother’s Day, Genesee Community College is offering a new way to honor or remember the life-long support of our mothers, grandmothers, or other special caregivers through a generous gift to Genesee Community College Student Scholarships, which support students as they attend college.

Contributions assist college students through Genesee’s scholarship program. Enrollment at the college is more than 6,500 full and part-time students, many of whom have families and full time jobs in addition to attending classes. Sometimes students need additional financial help to attend or remain enrolled. Scholarships toward higher education are a wonderful way to honor or remember mothers, who are often a strong voice encouraging education for children.

Mothers will receive a Mother’s Day card indicating that a gift has been made in their honor and donors will receive a receipt for the gift. Making a gift is easy; just provide the name and mailing address where the card should be sent, the donor name and address, and a check payable to Genesee Community College Foundation, and mailed to Genesee Community College, The minimum donation is $25. Contributions are tax deductible, and should be sent to the Genesee Community College Foundation, One College Road, Batavia, NY 14020.
