Genesee's Warsaw Campus Offers Free Workshops

Two workshop programs will be offered at Genesee Community College’s Warsaw campus center in the coming weeks. The first, scheduled for Tuesday April 22, 2008 from 4:45-5:45 pm features a film from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Regional Action Phone, Inc. (RAP) presents The Truth About Suicide: Real Stories of Depression in College.

The workshop allows participants to learn about depression and other warning signs for suicide. Attendees will see how others have protected themselves, friends, and family. A discussion will follow the film viewing. For more information, contact Holly Baxter of RAP at or

The second workshop focuses on the job search process and will help attendees gain job seeking skills to assist them now and in the future. Scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2008, the workshop will be split into four sessions. The first, from 4:00-4:30 pm is titled Job Search for Today and is presented by Jean Ianita, Business Services Representative for the New York State Department of Labor.

The next session is Resumé and Cover Letter Writing from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, and will be presented by John McGowan, Career Program Coordinator for the Career and Transfer Center at Genesee. The third session is Career & Education Planning from 6:00-6:30 pm. This session will be presented by Cheri Clark, Outreach Specialist for the Adult Educational Opportunity Center in Warsaw, NY. The final session is The Greater and Finer Points of Financial Aid from 6:30-7:00 pm, presented by Marie Giardino, Director of AEOC, Adult Educational Opportunity Center in Warsaw, NY.
