Arcade Campus Center Offers Art Course as Part of Genesee Promise +

Genesee Community College at Arcade is offering a 3-D Design art course this summer that will teach students the mastery of 3-Dimensional materials. Scheduled for five Thursdays between July 3 and 31 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, this three-credit course introduces design, techniques, methods, and tools of sculpture.

“This course will encourage creativity, craftsmanship, and development of personal ideas through a variety of problem solving assignments,” said instructor Mary Lynn Nutting. “Students will learn both historic and contemporary sculpture and will create at least six 3-Dimensional objects of their own.”

The course may be taken as part of the new Genesee Promise + program, which allows June 2008 high school graduates from Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties to attend two courses at Genesee Community College free of charge during the Summer 2008 session starting June 30th. Current GLOW area high school students who anticipate graduating in June 2008, and who have never attended a Genesee Community College class, should fill out Genesee’s general admission application as well as the one-page Genesee Promise + scholarship form. Both forms are available online by going to:

Although the Genesee Promise + scholarship application deadline is June 15, 2008, course registration for summer is already open and early enrollment helps each student secure his or her seat in a preferred class and at the most convenient schedule.
